Mac - Getting Started

Last Updated: Jun 27, 2013 03:12PM CDT

Thanks for using NoteSuite! We created NoteSuite to be an "end-to-end" solution -- a single place where you can save, track, and work on the things that matter to you, across your Mac and iPad (with more platforms coming soon).

As importantly, NoteSuite leaves you in control of your data. NoteSuite stores your data locally, using the cloud for backup and syncing. This way, you never have to worry about your notes service getting shut down, getting locked out of your account, or paying extra to access your notes offline.

NoteSuite has two modules:
  1. The Notes Module is where you create notes and store files (such as Word docs, PDFs, and web clips).
  2. The To-do Module is where you track due dates and priorities. The Notes and To-do Modules are completely integrated. This way, you can easily attach notes and documents to any to-do, or add things you're typing in a note directly to a to-do list with one click.

Switching between notes and to-dos

To switch between the notes and to-do modules, just click on either the Notes or To-dos tab.

You can also jump to a specific note or to-do list by clicking on the directory triangle in the notes and to-do modules, which displays its directory. Then, click on the file or to-do list you'd like to view

Permanent Directory

If you'd prefer to keep your directory always visible, click on the Directory button.

The Notes Toolbar

Most of the tools you'll need are located in the toolbar.

Toolbar buttons

Directory: See a list of all your files and to-do lists
Style Preset: Apply a Style Preset to the selected text
Outlining: Outline with bullets or checkboxes
Make To-do: Automatically add an item in your note to your to-do list
Insert: Attach files, photos, and audio to a note
Tags: Assign tags to a note or document

TIP: The Quick To-do lets you create a to-do in your natural words from anywhere in NoteSuite, and you can include a due date, if you'd like, as well. Just type something like "Buy concert tickets 3 weeks from Thursday" or "Marketing Plan due two weeks from tomorrow." NoteSuite puts this new to-do in your All To-dos list and Inbox.

The To-Do Toolbar

Sorting: Organize the to-do list by date, or arrange the order as you like
Sublist: Create a sub-list for any to-do

Organizing Your Files

The directory shows all your notes, documents, and web clips. You can also switch tabs to see to-dos in the directory, as well.

Access the directory by tapping the Directory button in the toolbar.

Folders: Organize your notes and documents into folders
