Create To-Dos

There are three ways to create a new to-do in NoteSuite: 

1. Enter To-dos in the To-do Module 

Whenever you're working in the To-do module, just click the bottom of any to-do list to begin entering a new to-do. 

2. Create a To-do While Writing a Note 

Click the Make To-do button while writing a note to add the text you just wrote to a to-do list. During meetings or lectures, this is a great way to quickly add something to your main to-do list without disruption. NoteSuite puts these to-dos in your Inbox and "All To-dos" list. 

NoteSuite will figure out due dates automatically if you write "due," and a description of when it's due, at the end of your sentence. (For example, "Marketing Report due two weeks from Tuesday.") 

You can also add entire projects, with sub-lists, to your to-do list by clicking the Make To-do button while your cursor is anywhere within the project. See below for more info. 

3. Email a To-do to your To-do List 

Whenever you have an email you would like to add directly to your to-do list, type "TD:" at the beginning of your email's subject line. This is a great way to clean up your email program's inbox. Feel free to include attachments. Also, if you write "due 2 weeks from Thursday" at the end of the subject line, NoteSuite will set the due date automatically. See the help section Email Files to NoteSuite for more info.

Due Dates 

NoteSuite will figure out due dates automatically if you write "due," and a description of when it's due, at the end of your sentence. (For example, "Marketing Report due two weeks from Tuesday.") 

Here are some of the things NoteSuite understands when calculating due dates:
  • Days, Weeks, and Months
  • Today, Tomorrow, and Yesterday
  • Days of the week

Creating Projects Within a Note 

You can also add entire projects, with sub-lists, to your to-do list by clicking the Make To-do button while your cursor is anywhere within a bullet hierarchy. For example, if you turned on bullet or checkbox outlining, then wrote the name of your project on the first line, with an indented sub-list on the following lines, just click the Make To-do button while your cursor is anywhere within this hierarchy. NoteSuite will ask whether you wish to create an entire project from the hierarchy. 

Completing To-dos 

If you've added something to your to-do list from a note, NoteSuite will automatically mark the item as completed when you check it off in either the note or the to-do list. 

Editing To-dos 

If you edit the text in a note for something you've added to your to-do list, NoteSuite will automatically change it in your to-do list, as well.
